    Hi mayke,

You really have to post in the main part of JA Teline II. Menalto will get mad. 🙂 These are off topics already. There is PM for more personal stuff. But, I am not really well versed in technical stuff — that is more what Menalto or some Moderators can do better than I.

    Hello gaygiorgia,
I have the same problem it is related to the ” and other caracters. I do belive this has something to dowith
Teline modifying the tags in the front page. There is a lot of other bugs related to this but I cant get any one to respond about it here. So I finally did what I have done with the rest of this bug. Work around it by not using “…” in the title of an article.

Please chack the source when you browse the article or send me the URL.

    gaygiorgia,
Well, you might need to wait for ever as the officials normaly dont answer here.
Newer the less I think you are on to somthing as this problem is also posted in another tread.
    http://www.joomlart.com/forums/topic/bug-swedish-characters-not-displayed-correctly-in-ja_news/
Could you try to remove the Font and /Font around the text and try to use the
    é
instead of é it seems like it is converted to a à on the front page. Also the – following 31 agosto is translated to
    â€
    for some odd reason.

I dont have clue what this is about but perhaps some one smarter than me could help?

    All the best

    Hi all !
There is many problem when using teline ii , We can list it in 3 types :
    1.Error in config
2.Error when use with thirparty extensions
    3.Error of package

It’s difficult for moderators when detect the all problem .
I think that after we discussed and detect exactly that is error of teline ii package , please create an issue on project tools . JA Team will confirm it and fix it in next version.

What is the name of the function(s) that takes care of the formatting of articles in news and news_fp and ware are this functions located?

I do think that a lot of problems and bugs related to these 2 modules are related to this.
The above mentioned problem with extended ASCII code. Like å ä ö, etc. when they are the last letter in a truncated string. This letters is translated to in the underling html source to:

    ä = ä å = å ö =ö é = é
the box is normally a symbol for “unknown” character.
I do think that for some reason the truncated string is returned in ASCII not charset=utf-8 that should take care of this.

This might also be related to the way the string is stored in the data base.

I did see the same thing in older ver. of Teline II for instance the demo article:
‘Are the catwalks so white?’ ware the ‘ turned into boxes. This seems to have been fixed in ver. 1.4

I might be totally wrong here but I have had similar problems programming in other languages than php and differnt data bases.

I did a little test on this with all seciall characters and this is the result:

    ¢ÇÈåàáâãäå æç èéêë ìíî ñ òóôõö ÷ ø ù úûü ÿè … ÇÈåàá : String from editor
¢ÇÈåàáâãäå æç èéêë ìíî ñ òóôõö ÷ ø ù úûü ÿè … ÇÈåà... String from page
    ¢ÇÈåàáâãäå æç èéêë ìíî ñ òóôõö ÷ ø ù úûü ÿè … ÇÈåàÃ...
    String Returned from source:

It must be a logical answer to this and it should be possible to handle.

As we can see the page returns the correct string except for the last character.
But the string in the source loks totally different.

does this have to deal with the problem we are discussing in this thread?

the problem that needs solving in this thread is:

    – module ja_news:
a strange symbol appears as last letter before “…” —> … when it should not appear (infact if we read the entire full article it is not appear anymore) that gaygiorgia has posted and is being encountered by many people. Is this thread (http://www.joomlart.com/forums/topic/teline-ii-problem-in-enter-content-and-paste-html/) related to this hainn84?

This will be long with a lot of code, etc. but I will try to make it as clear as possible.

    1. In the first ver. of Teline2 we didn’t have the formatting problems we have today on the front page. This could be seen on http://www.guatemala-times.com/jomtest/
    2. I have modified the second upper right corner in JA_news_fp) article and put in some ä öåäèö ware the article is truncated and it works fine. I also made the text BOLD around that segment this is the html code I used.

This leads me to believe that when later versions ware created either the function that handles the removal of html tags ware removed intentionally to allow some formatting (like links) or it was forgotten = BUG.
We can see that this little issue is leading to a lot of unpredictable problems.

    So the simple question is:
Was this funktion forgotten or removed intentionally?

    Next question:
How do we implement this again, with or without the otion of permiting some tags.

    All the best
