Log into your Joomla admin
Go to your website's admin address (it usually ends in /administrator) and sign in as you normally would.
Switch on 3 built-in features
Go to System → Manage → Plugins and enable: User - Joomla API Token, API Authentication - Joomla Token, and Web Services - Content (search "token" and "web services" to find them).
Nothing to install - these already ship with Joomla, just switched off.
Create your access key
Go to Users → Manage → your username → last tab, Joomla API Token. Set Active and Reset to Yes, then Save.

Is this safe for my website?
