I was able to update the new 1.4.0 Plugin but not the 1.4.0 Template
I currently have Template ver. 1.3.0
I tried several ways and these are the different install errors I received:

Hi joomlaexcel,

Can you try to open your configuration.php on your server ? Then use below codes:

public $log_path = ‘./logs’;
public $tmp_path = ‘./tmp’;

Then update our T3 blank template 1.4.0 again.

Same error messages :((
As you suggested, I first changed line 56 & 57 in configuration.php with
public $log_path = ‘./logs’;
public $tmp_path = ‘./tmp’;
and then tried to install from Extension Manager: Install and Extension Manager: Update

I resolved by uninstalling 1.4.0 and installing 1.4.1
