Yes I could always see it on the backend and I checked to see if it was properly assigned and it was but it still wouldn’t work on the front end.

It seemed to happen at the same time you found the problem. I owe you an apology as I just figured out that Joomla is doing something strange with the menu system and that is what is causing the problem. I have posted to Joomla forum and hopefully I can find a solution.
