Update: I figured it out.
-> Go to the K2 Dashboard
Click on the Parameters button (top right)
At the bottom of the list, you should see some sh404 options including “sh404SEF URL category prefix for items”. There you can select to show all, the last or no category in your SEF Urls. (Make sure you scroll back to the top and Save 😉

NOTE: unfortunately due to a current limitation, individual items behave differently than category layouts. All individual items will have no category in their URLs but the category layouts will still show the categories in their URLs. In that case, you can do create some aliases in sh404 to handle the transition.
Hello! I am totally stuck on this one issue and can’t seem to find a solution. I don’t think this is a Joomlart issue but I am hoping for some help if possible.
I am using K2 and sh404sef together on 2 sites, but i am having 2 separate experiences with how my URL’s are turning out.
The way I want them to be written in like this:
http://www.sitename/title.html
In fact on one of my site it is doing just that. for example:
http://www.webkinzone.com/Webkinz-Newz-Blue-Chick-Contest.html
But on the other site they are writing out like this:
http://www.sitename/k2category/title.html
here is an example:
http://www.clubpenguination.com/Club-Penguin-News/Club-Penguin-Apri…
Both are using Joomlart templates and both are on the same host. I have tried to do a side by side comparison of the sh404sef settings as well as my K2 settings and they both are basically the same.
Is there any kind soul out there who can help me remove the category from the URL?
Thanks so much for your time! – Josh
