    hi,

I just upgraded my ja business template to 2.5 and I see that all my changes are overridden (without warning!)
    How can I prevent that?

Also my logo dissappeared and the
Also the JA Toppanel module changed its default color which is brown, to white.
    How can I fix that?

    thanks!

please provide in the future an upgrade path without loosing customisations

    Thanks

    Hi cyres,
Very sorry for this late response, when upgrading version for each template, we already have change log and comparision of new version and older one:
    Changelog: http://pm.joomlart.com/browse/JATCBUSINESSJ16
    Compare: http://update.joomlart.com/#compare/JATCBUSINESSJ16/2.5.0/1.3.1
Some of your customized part, probably, would be overwritten in the update and need to be added back in as you had it before. Please check it carefully before upgrading.

    Hi Cyres,

updating logo, changing styles are part of customization which are done onto the default template. Unless one take due backup, these changes are bound to the overwritten. Thats the reason we had worked hard and developed JA Extension Manager component, which is released with each template and can be found in the download of each template. While announcing all the releases we take due care to advice user to take backup.

backup is an step, which can not be done away with. I am not talking about JA products here. It applies in general for all the Joomla! products.

We all understand what pain it is to redo the customization. Please take backup and use JA extension manager for future upgrades.

Watch the video for understanding the features of JA extension Manager >> http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=mNAuJRmifG8

    Hi Cyres

Apparently you did your customizations in the core files of the template. That is what I did too and I found out the same way that this is not the preferred way.
Using the JA extension manager to do the upgrade provides you, apart from what Arvind said, also with a rollback feature. So in case something is not as you want it after an upgrade you easily go back to the previous situation.

Check the joomlart video as Arvind mentioned but keep in mind that the concept of the local folder for the customizations is no longer present in the current version. Check my other response about this issue.
Now I have my customizations in a separate theme and profile so I am better prepared for the next upgrade.

    Regards, John
