Can Provide the details of the problem that you are getting on your site ?
If you want to make site like demo, I suggest you to use quickstart package that will provide you demo site sample data installation in it.
Here is documentation.

Hello Pankaj,
Thnx for your time, I’m a starter in joomla-land. Know a little about it, but working with modules is very different like working with article and menu-structure.
I would like to let the main menu respond just like it does on the photographer-demo site. But for some reason al the 3 menu items respond different. Can you help me a little back on the road? That would be awesome.
I make a menu-item and than choose featured article and assign a module. That is the trick, aint it?

Kindly provided me details of the issue that you are getting with menu items with screenshot and working site url so that i can assist you better.
Also i suggest you to install the quickstart package on localhost so that u can check the configuration of quickstart package for menu and modules and apply it on your site.

When u go to joep.studiojon.nl you can see how the menu reacts.
Is that quickstart package a zip file that I have to install via extentions?

the website does not seems like a quickstart package because the data is not sample data.
If you want to install quickstart package kindly download the package from here and install it with help of this documentation.
You can try it on localhost, the shared site seems build manually.

Hi i have not noticed any issue in menu? Kindly provide me details of the problem that you are getting with menu. Without proper details its very hard for me assume the issue on your site.

Contact menu item type is single contact. If you want it like demo you have to use type as external URL and add module name. I created a sample menu item contactt http://prntscr.com/dp6mxc
You can see how its working now .
