I’ve gone through the template and have noticed that there isn’t any source files download for joomla 1.6. Are they only available on 1.5 or what?

Which template ? Only some of them are available for Joomla 1.6.

What template are you using? There are a few notable code changes from 1.5 to 1.6 that were made to make templates more functional.
