there is something wrong with your Joomla installation: http://prntscr.com/g2cbny
It does not show the images and links options and publish data options.
I suggest you reinstall the Joomla and configure the slideshow again because without images slideshow is unable to show the images as well as you can not add the images.

Hi,
thank you for your suggestion.
I have reinstalled Joomla and configured the slideshow as described in the documentation. Still no picture in the slideshow.
In edit article, I have "Images and Links", "Options" and further tabs. What do I have to do, to get the slideshow working?
Login credentials are still the same.

The sample pictures are free and you can use it on your site. There is no such licence for the pictures in template.
