I have just opened up my new site and it is running a distinct amount slower than my old site. If I do a steady count – it takes to 5 to open any menu item on the new site – it takes to 3 for my old site. I have development mode off, CSS and JS compressed, progressive caching. The old site is http://kepler.edu/homeold (you can use the same credentials for both). The old site is Joomla 2.5 – is Joomla 3 inherently slower? I even have a more streamlined new site (no Jomsocial, no comments).

September 15, 2014 at 6:25 am #549498Hello page speed depends on several factor
like
external javascripts
+external css
+ internal css +js minify .
+images size (more images increase load time)
+your server configuration
+ site caching (static+dynamic)Here are some tips
1. Enabled js and css compression from template options .
2. http://www.joomlart.com/tutorials/joomla-tutorials/10-tips-to-improve-joomla-site-performance

September 22, 2014 at 4:34 pm #550400The only changes in my site have been upgrading from Joomla 2.5 to Joomla 3.3 and implementing a Joomlart template instead of one from Shape5. The basic front page for both sites have the same number of images, I’ve done what I can to make the image sizes smaller and still have clarity. And the slowness persists with every menu option. It is a noticeable difference. My google speeds have dropped from 65/100 to 35/100 for mobile and 72/100 to 44/100 for desktop. It looks like my only choice is to continue trying to implement all the suggestions from Google.
How do I compress the T3 folder? That is one of the recommendations:
Compressing http://www.kepler.edu/home/t3-assets/js/js-8decc.js?t=795 could save 214KiB (72% reduction).
Compressing http://www.kepler.edu/home/t3-assets/css/css-39bf5.css?t=789 could save 125.2KiB (82% reduction).
Compressing http://www.kepler.edu/home/t3-assets/css/css-78d6e.css?t=15 could save 125KiB (84% reduction).
Compressing http://www.kepler.edu/home/t3-assets/js/js-9fdc5.js?t=616 could save 124.9KiB (66% reduction).
Compressing http://www.kepler.edu/home/t3-assets/js/js-6e814.js?t=617 could save 43.4KiB (75% reduction).
Compressing http://www.kepler.edu/home/t3-assets/css/css-15393.css?t=15 could save 30.4KiB (83% reduction).Pankaj Sharma ModeratorPankaj Sharma

September 22, 2014 at 4:43 pm #550404Hello T3-assets folder already contain compress css and js files in it .
If you want to more compression , in that case you can disable the T3 css/js compression from template options .
and use third party extension . like JCH. -
