I have empty space presumably from sidebar1 position- which I have perhaps made some customization moving to sidebar2-but I don’t remember :-[
Here is how I want the page to look-the module position is sidebar1 used on the page.

Here is the empty space-which is happening on any new content I create- using same module position as above.

on this layout article body contains span8

you need to change the article container span size from article/deafult.php . where you changed it before .

You can try to download and use my attachment on your site
+ Download and extract my attachment file
+ Copy it into templates/ja_obelisk/html/com_content/article/default.php file and don’t forget backup old files before doing changes.
