luke2125;94014What template would folks recommend for a Travel / Vacation Site?

Depends on many factors. Is it for a specific type of travel? Will there be online bookings? Is it for a single destination ie. Tourist Information? Will it be text and info heavy or image and promotion heavy?

For a brocher style image heavy site I would suggest Rochea but there are really many to choose from.
For an information site for multi destinations I would suggest Teline II

Like scotty said, there are very many templates to chose from, and they all can be modified to fit your needs as well. So I think a lot depends on you too. Find one you like, look at what others have done with that template, modify where you like, color scheme.

I think Avian II could also be a good choice or even the new Uvite if you change the background and colors.

Look around a find one you like and go with that.

    Hi Sunrise,

Thanks for the info, but I have another quick questions, I already installed Joomla 1.5.8 through Fantastico, and I see that we have a QuickStart option, do I really have to uninstall my current Joomla 1.5.8, then use the Quickstart procedure to install Joomla 1.5.8 and Templates, etc…. or can I just overwrite the current Folders in my current installation so I can get the DEMO…….?

Oh, thanks for the compliment, well I’m using a FREE Open Source Application called PHPMOTION, go here:

V3 is coming out, very nice and free………

    God Bless……

    Hi there,

I am not sure that I really understood your question, but I will try my best to answer.

If you already have a Joomla site up, and you just want to update the joomla version, say from 1.5.7 to 1.5.8, then you don’t need to and should not use the quickstart. Just use the update.

The quickstart is to start up a new site, with modules, components and all to get an easier start.

Copying the quickstart and overwriting you old folders will not work though as it will not copy the database that is needed.

The only thing you can copy and overwrite is the joomla upgrade or maybe other upgrades you may find, of mocules, compononent and plugins, but with data you need to use mysql.

I don’t know if this is of any help, but I hope so.

By the way, thanks a lot for telling me about phpmotion. I had been looking for something like that. Great!
