We need to add Google Analytics tracking code to our template. Normally, this just entails adding the code before the closing </body> tag in the site template.

We we place the code in the Norite index.php file, though, the following parsing error occurs
Parse error: syntax error, unexpected ‘<‘ in /home/content/w/t/g/wtgtcom/html/templates/ja_norite/index.php on line 75

Is there another file where Analytics code should be implemented for a Norite based site?

    Thanks for the help.

The standard Joomla templates include the opening and closing <body> tags. We have successfully placed Analytics code in numerous sites using these templates as well as Teline_II. We’re just running into the parsing error with the Norite template only. It is set up differently and does not include a closing </body> tag

    Found the solution.

We loaded the Google Analytics code into the file /templates/ja_norite/layouts/default.php and everything works fine. 🙂
