Hello, I am trying to turn on SSL for certain menu items. I am using Ores for J1.6.

Specific example: Menu > Main Menu > find “Secure Training Registration Form” (itemid=293) > metadata options > secure = on

At this point after it’s been checked On, when one mouses over the menu item via the front end of the website, it should attach https:// in front of the menu item; however, it is not. It is still showing http://

Not sure what I’m doing wrong… is it a server SSL thing, Joomla Core thing, Ores template thing, PHP thing… etc.

Hi m75131!
Have you adjusted the site settings such as the htaccess file.txt?
Do you need instruction on how to do this?
Also, Joomla 1.6 is no longer supported, please upgrade your site to Joomla 1.7 and if you need further instruction, I will be happy to help!

Thank you Blaine for the tip!

Turns out the client purchased a QuickSSL not EV. ugh… so there is no green bar as I normally expect… anyway, I used the plugin and it worked. http://extensions.joomla.org/extensions/site-management/url-redirection/11326
