How would I move the inset2 position so it is to the left of the main content column? i.e. I was a left module position.

You can do that

Go to Admin site-> Extensions->Template Manager->Edit JA Orisite->Layouts Tab->Edit default

from
<blockquote><block name=”inset2″>inset2</block></blockquote>
change to
<blockquote><block name=”inset1″>left</block></blockquote>
