Hi Phill, thanks for sending the file. I have installed it using kickstart, and the installation completed without error, but when visiting the site I get the error:

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected ‘=’, expecting ‘(‘ in /home/stmarks/public_html/cms/includes/framework.php on line 42

Initially, on first visiting it, the error was along the lines of “Allowed memory size of 16777216 bytes exhausted….” (this is all I copied before getting the other error).

    Any ideas?

    Cheers.

It sounds like your server has insufficient resources to run this template/Joomla 2.5.1

Also tried a clean quickstart with this social template. (2.5.1) on my VPS. Suffering same problem that installation get in a loop at step 4. (no error message, just return to step 4)

Tried a clean install with joomla package, (2.5.2) with the same database details and I have not a single problem on my VPS with that install.

There is something wrong with the quickstart package I guess…

It dose seem to be very specific. I have tried on many systems and I have yet to see it fail. The download has been re-created today so download a fresh copy and give it a go.

In this case I had a fresh copy of JA Social already installed on my local machine so I just used Akeeba to create a backup of it and uploaded that backup to your site. That way it saves me a huge amount of time uploading as the achive is a lot smaller than all the individual unpacked files. It also uses the Akeeba installer rather than the standard J one. The tables are exactly the same and the script that inserts the tables is the same except that is inserts the sample data and sets up the tables in one hit rather than two.</blockquote>

Could you please send me or allow me to download that file?? I really need to create a new site with ja social template, and i need the quickstart.

    Greetings

I cannot as I am away from home. It was simple to create though. All I did was installed on my local machine using WAMP. I then installed Akeeba Backup and took a backup of the site. I then used that backup as a quickstart.

I deployed this package on a local Xampp installation which worked, but in the blog area the text in the picture isn’t correctly outlined. (the forward arrow displays out of the picture.)
Especially when you change the setting from LTR to RTL then text in the pictures are totally messed up.
Text is also messed up when you change the Cpanel to narrow.
In short, I think this template is pretty buggy and I guess I will not use it, unless these issues are resolved.
// Update : I just downloaded and installed the new quickstart package (with joomla 2.5.2) and it this one works. The only problems that remain are the wrong text layout in narrow mode and when you switch to RTL in blog tab.

    Hi Phill,

Just to let you know that the web site is now working – I just left it and came back a few days later and the problem resolved by itself..

Thank you for all your help.
