How do I reduce the gap indicated in the attached where the arrows are? I want it to be the full width and want to get rid of the white gaps on wither side.

You need to create a new css file named: custom.css in templatesja_fixcss directory, then add following CSS rule:

[PHP].view-article .item-page {
max-width: 1000px;
}[/PHP]
