Is the webserver running on an old php version?

Quickstart works for me. Downloaded yesterday, running PHP 5.2.9 with MySQL 5.0.32.

I’ve just tested with PHP4.3 and you do indeed get and error, later versions of PHP are fine. Ideally, you should ask your host to upgrade your version of PHP. PHP5 has been out for a very long time now and IMO all hosts should have upgraded for their own benefit as well as their users.

Hopefully, JA will adjust the code in ja_menuparams to cope with the outdated PHP version. In the mean time, have a word with your host and see if they can switch you to PHP5.x

My provider will upgrade to a newer version of PHP. I hope this will solve the problems.

    Tnx

Excellent news. Make sure you check your php info (from the joomla back end in the help menu) to make sure it is showing the correct version.

I have it up and running now. Just altered the .htaccess file to use .php5 extensions.

Thanks for coming and telling us what you did. That won’t work for all, only if you have php5 available to you. Many people have but just don’t realise it.

I use 1and1.co.uk as my site host. I didn’t realise I had php5 available. I contacted them and told me to add this line of code to my .htaccess file
    AddType x-mapp-php5 .php
which is located within the top level of where my joomla files are located.
