How could I increase the default width of modules in the sidebar position? I would like the modules to be a bit wider.

Hi

You can change columns width editing grid system for them, take a look HERE how grid is organized.

You can find files for layouts in this folder /templates/ja_intranet/tpls/blocks/mainbody/ and editing files based on layout choosen , example if you have a layout with 2 sidebars then you should edit this file.
/templates/ja_intranet/tpls/blocks/mainbody/two-sidebar.php
