    Hello,

in IE8, the logo appears in the wrong spot. Here’s a link:

    http://94.75.226.227/~bart01/index.php

    I’ve added this tag: <meta http-equiv=”X-UA-Compatible” content=”IE=7″ />

The funny thing is, it displays fine in IE7.

    Anny suggestions?

    Thanks,

    Marc

I’ve just checked and it looks ok now in IE8 – safe to assume you fixed the problem?

Thanks for pointing that out. As a matter of fact, I din’t fix anything!
It’s a complete mistery to me why it’s working now.

adding the <meta http-equiv=”X-UA-Compatible” content=”IE=7″ /> will make it appear correctly in IE8

Yes it will but what it does is (turn on the compatibilyty mode)

In IE8 there is a compatability button which will make your website appear as it does in other IE browsers, such as IE7.

Adding the code will do the above automatically, so your web visitors need not press the compat button!

    Hope this helps explain 😉

The funny thing is, I added the tag you mention, but it didn’t seem to help. Propbably should have restarted IE or something.

I’m having the same problem with JA Quartz, not a logo placement issue but other allignment issues. I’m looking to automatically enable compatibility mode…sorry to have to ask this but where exactly do I add this meta tag code to do this?

    Thanks in advance.

Put in the <head> tag, at the top. That should do it.

    Hi marcc

It probably didn’t update straight away – servers not always as quick as we would like!

Yep looks ok in IE8 – some people have used the IE8 compatibility plugin, but this causes problems with some templates – some then aren’t compatible with IE7, so I understand.

    Sorry to ask this,

Which file we modify to add in the code:

    <meta http-equiv=”X-UA-Compatible” content=”IE=7″ />

    ??

    Thanks:confused:

If you’re using ftp you can update the template index.php by adding the line into the area <menu head> find it in your website folder/templates/yourtemplate/index.php

or via the template admin panel by going into extensions/template manager/your template/ and edit the html file.
