Hello.

I am running Joomla 1.5.15, utilizing the newest version of JA Nickel – blue.
My site is http://www.brl.greenlakestudio.com.

Everything is beautiful and working properly in FF and Safari, but not good at all on ie.

I’ve made edits to the template.css and blue-ie.php as recommended in this forum, but none of the edits made a difference for me.

Please help me resolve the following problems in ie.

* Drop down menu is so transparent it can’t be read unless you hover over it (Get Involved button).
* Breadcrumbs and all positions below it are missing (on some pages but not all)
* Not all blog style pages are showing in category/blog links (Get Involved & News / Media)

=> For these two issues, it is from your articles, If you see source page of pages which you don’t see positions, you will see that there are a lot of codes from Ms.Word because you are copying articles from Ms.Word but don’t clean the format of Ms.Word

Oh you are right. The formating is a mess from copy-paste. I’m cleaning it all up now and eliminating the word formating.

As far as the first issue, it’s the drop down menus in the main navigation where the button’s background are so transparent in ie that you can’t read the words on the dropdown menu unless you hover over each item. This is not the case when using FF or Safari.

Still not sure why the components from breadcrumbs and below are missing from some but not all pages in ie.

I’m cleaning up articles now and will have them completed shortly.

Thank you for noticing all the word garbage in my formatting. Cleaning it up corrected 2 of the 3 problems I was having. (Or at least I guess that is what fixed it.)

It appears the only problem in IE at this point is that the background in the drop down menus is too transparent making the buttons unreadable. Again, the transparency is fine in FF and Safari. This problem in only occuring in IE.

Sure. This shot is in IE.

This shot is in FF. You’ll notice you can see the words in the dropdown menu on this shot, where you can read them when using IE.

Hi,

I have the exact same problem and I’m surpised nobody else mentionned it.
Till it get fixed, here’s a temporary workaround, no more submenu transparency…
It’s far from perfect but at least now you can see the menu in IE
You’ll have to adjust the bg color to your template.

In /templates/ja_nickel/ja_menus/ja_cssmenu/ja.cssmenu.css add this line:

Hi. That does look good there. It’s IE8 that is causing the problem. I tried clicking the compatibilty button, but that makes no change. Sorry, I thought I had listed that earlier, but I don’t see where I did in past posts.

I have a desktop and a laptop. Both have Windows Vista and both have Explorer 8. The laptop previews the drop down menus fine, while the desktop shows the drop down menu backgrounds too light, making the buttons hard to read.

Weird. Any ideas why one system is showing things correct and the other is not? I fear others will see the menus as I do on the desktop…

I had not tested this on both computers before so thanks for suggesting I do so…

Hello, I’m also looking for a solution to this same problem. When I load the site in IE8 on Win7, I get transparent menus. I don’t think upgrading IE is a fix because I can’t force my site visitors to change their browser. This has to be fixed on the server side to serve menus that are visible on all browsers.

Any ideas on fixes/workarounds?

I am sorry for not being of much help in this case. Because i have not any computers having the problem same as yours, so that i could not debug and get you the solution.

i Think that the best solution for your, you will customize the background image of the menu: you will not use the background image, you use a background color to replace it
