I only want the Author, Create Date, and Icons visible ONLY when a user is actually viewing the article.

What method would you recommend to achieve this most efficiently?

The method I’m using will take a l-o-n-g time. :-[

I’m not quite sure what modifications you have done upon your installation, would need to take a closer look at your site. Please include screenshot and your site URL here for further investigation.

Thanks for offering to help, but I decided to exclude these icons in the first menu level only. I can easily do this in the menu manager > article options > icons, etc.
