I would like to create and overlay a module position over top of the Masthead position.

The purpose is to display a Facebook Like Button in the lower right hand corner of a rotating banner in the Masthead position.

I’m tweaking code with methods I found on some forums:

But I’m not having to much luck on getting it to work.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

This is custom work request . You can give me screenshot and illustrate the matter inside it , what u want to achieve so i can help u in this matter . The link you provided above is too old and not for the T3 framework .
