Out of curiosity, how can you change the “Home” button (text) on your main menu to the home icon that the demo has?

Simple. Go to Menus->magazine. Click on “Home”, look on the right for Parameters (JA Extended). Enter “home” (without quotes) in the “additional classes” box. Boom – you have the “home” icon.
