have a category list menu link but i cant find how to turn off the authors from showing next to the article titles in the list.

Hi

In the menu item where you enter Menu Item Details if you see to the right of it (on the right side)

There is a heading Parameters (Component)

Once you click on that you have various options one of them being Author Name use global – you set that to hide and it wont show up.
