Is it possible to have Down Arrows in the menu items that contain sub items (suckerfish)?

Yes it´s possible…
As an example take a look at the JA Bellatrix template…

You will need an graphic and have to change the css file ja-sosdmenu.css

Here how it looks at the Bellatrix template:

#ja-cssmenu li.havechild {
background: url(img/arrow-parent.gif) no-repeat center right;
}
