    Hi,

Can I change the web address/link of the menu items in the back end, in Menu Manager: Edit Menu Item, details, link without that page disappearing from the site? I’d like to take out the template name but I am afraid the site or that page would stop working.
    For example:
    Original:
    http://magtv.ca/index.php?option=com_content&view=category&layout=ja_teline_v:blank&id=9&Itemid=139
    Changed:
    http://magtv.ca/index.php?option=com_content&id=9&Itemid=139

    thanks,
    Zsolt

    Hi Zsolt,

Did you try with a 3rd party extension for SEF URL? it would be easier.

Can you tell me how to do it when you have time? I would prefer not to have the template name in the web addresses of the menu pages. I don’t want to mess up the website’s code so it won’t work.
I am not that familiar with coding, joomla, backend stuff, etc.

    thanks,
    Zsolt

Would it do if I set to YES to Search engine friendly URLs in SEO Settings in global configuration and change the other parameters as well?

If I change the parameters there now, would this mess up my web links to articles and menus since ithis was not set to YES at the time of creation of the articles and the menus?

    I just don’t want to take chances…

    thanks.

You can try an extension for SEF e.g: SH404SEF, … http://extensions.joomla.org/tags/sef with which you can customise URL as you wish
