October 7, 2011 at 7:35 pm #169435We’re using the light blue Ores theme but want to change default menu colour which is very pale (f8f8f8) to a darker contrast version say oeoeoe. Essentially, the new default colour for this top menu would then be the same colour as the bottom colored bar. See attachments for a very basic mock up or what we want. Any guidance would be appreciated. Thanks, SD

October 8, 2011 at 1:52 am #417652Hi silicondesigns!
Using Firebug is an easy way to locate where the code is calling from, then once identified, you can go to the CSS files and change there.
Hope it helps!silicondesigns Friendsilicondesigns

October 10, 2011 at 8:11 am #418138Thanks for the heads up Blaine, but I was really looking for some specific Joomlart template guidance on file locations etc so as to ensure its dead right. Anybody else have any other suggestions at this stage. SD.

To change the background color of the main nav – open templates/ja_ores/core/themes/light-blue/css/light-theme.css
at line 92 you will see the following . . .
/* mainnav */
#ja-mainnav {
background: url(../images/mainnav-bg.gif) !important ;
border-bottom: 1px solid #fff;
}
You can change the background color to “oeoeoe” or whatever color you want.
Of course, you will then also need to modify the font color for your menu items.
Incidentally, Blaine was absolutely correct in suggesting you utilize a web development tool, like Firebug, to identify elements such as this – and even test out various modifications in a live test setting. Check out the following . . .
