I would like the read more button to show up on all entries in the category blog pages. Right now it only shows up if read more is inserted into the article.

How do I do this?

Have you checked in article options of the article Read More Text or in article manager options articles Show read more ?

Yes in the article manager parameters I have the read more link set to show. And the articles have the read more set to global.
