December 26, 2010 at 2:04 pm #368608Not yet but it should be available for the stable release. From what I can see the menu system is not working even if you use the 1.6 framework plugin.
There is the JAT3 framework now available for download for J1.6 and that is working well. Any of the JA using the JAT3 v2 system only require a few modifications to the code to work but a lot of the plugins still require updating.
JA intend to have a large catalogue of its templates and plugins available for the stable release of Joomla 1.6

December 26, 2010 at 2:43 pm #368610Thanks Phill!
I posted a topic yesterday with a question about JAT3 FRAMEWORK. Is it also a TEMPLATE, like JA Purity II? And, is it also free, like JA Purity II?I already have some sites using JA Purity II, and now I am starting the construction of a new site, that I am sure will be a huge site in a near future. At the moment, I begin the construction of the new site using Joomla 1.5.22 and JA Purity II.
In this site I don’t plan to use many extensions, just some like Kunena forum, Community Builder, UddeIM PMS, Jcomments, Extra Vote and a few others.
What is worring me is the upgrade for Joomla 1.6. Maybe would be better if I already start the construction using Joomla 1.6, instead 1.5.22.
A fact to be considered is that I have been studing JA Purity II during the last 6 months, and have learned something. I did download Joomla 1.6 RC1 and installed it in my local server, just for some tests, and I didn’t see JA Purity II template in there.
What do you think I shoud do?
Thanks very much!Phill Moderator

December 26, 2010 at 5:50 pm #368616The JAT3 framework for Joomla 1.6 is the same as the Framework for J1.5 (but for 1.6 obviously). It is a base with which to build new templates with, not a template in itself. There is a free blank template which you can download but it has no styling whatsoever and is meant for developers to build upon.
Glad you have liked Purity II, it is a great template.
As for J1.6, it could be ready very soon or it could be some time depending on what bugs etc need ironing out and how much time the Joomla team and its helpers can work on it. Plans are afoot for a January release Joomla 1.6.0 but this could be much later. I personally would not build a website with an RC. I have seen in the past RC editions of software require a huge amount of work to upgrade when the final release is available, more even than the previous stable version. Security is also an unknown and couple that with the fact that many extensions are currently not 1.6 ready the exercise could end in a bit of a mess.
Even when the stable release is available I would not upgrade for the first couple of months. When a new release this big is available it will take a while for all your most used extensions to become available plus I am sure there will be a lot of updates as soon as a larger user base begins testing.
