Just installed QuickStart fresh for simpli.
And pressed the joomla update component button which took it from J3.5.1 to 3.6.0.
Nothing else done. Nothing else installed – just a blank QuickStart.

Now in the backend if you go to extensions->manage->update then component is blank. None of the tabs ‘install from web’ etc. showing, but all these plugins are installed and enabled.

Many thanks for any help on this.

I did same recently. Click on Manage, below Update. It might make you feel more comfortable. 🙂

Try to clean all the caches first, then go to Component > Joomla Update > it will show latest version of Joomla so you can proceed updating.
