By the way I think this is because the tutorial says to create a page with featured articles as the menu item which I am not sure if its correct because of course any feature article will then appear on this page of course? maybe the there is a another type of page we should be creating here?

I don’t see these articles on your site right now.

These articles belong to ‘component’ block, if you don’t want it show in specific page, you can go to Template manager section > Layout > Skip this component for selected page: http://prntscr.com/bv5626
