The “right” position/column does not show up at all when you’re view an article that you clicked to from a Section Layout.

menu item 1 (Section Blog Layout)
menu item 2 (Category Blog Layout)

menu item 1 points to Section A

menu item 2 points to Section A > Category 1

The “right” position shows up when you click menu item 1, menu item 2, or on any article viewed by clicking from menu item 2.
But if you’re viewing an article that you got to from clicking through menu item 1, the “right” position isn’t showing.

All the modules in the “right” position are set to show on all menu items (including menu item 1 and menu item 2) except the “home” menu item (which brings you to the frontpage).

So there are active “right” modules and they are set to show on both menu items, and they DO show on both the Section/Category Layout pages when you click on either menu item, BUT when you click to the article from the Section Layout, the right side is lost.

Strangely enough, if you set a module from the “right” column to show on ALL menu items, (including the home/frontpage), then the “right” column does correctly show up when viewing an article from the Section Layout. but I can’t do this because the “right” column can’t show up on the frontpage (it needs to be only the left column and content area).

Does anyone know how to fix this? Or have any clues?

Hmm I’ve just tested this and I’m not having that problem. I’ve made a Section Blog Layout link and set a custom module to display ONLY for that link and the module IS showing on all articles clicked within that section.

Are you using SEF URL’s by any chance?

Do you have a live URL to the site?

My apologies, the error was my own.
I had made a template change a few months back and after re-reading my code with my better understanding of Joomla I saw I had done something I shouldn’t have.
