    Hi,

had a few question in mind before proceeding to purchase,

    1. what the difference btw the template here and magento
    2. by being a member i can access the extension for free? or do i have to pay? (the way i read it, it is free for developer club just want to double confirm :D)
    3. Private branding for developer club means?
    4. last but not least, i am not good at html/php and whatever not. Just want to create nice sites easy and fast for my business. Would this be the product for me?….dont want to pay and end up giving up on using it. lol

Thanks for the assistance in advance πŸ™‚

    Hi Andrea

    Magento is an e-commerce system:
    http://www.magentocommerce.com/

So all Magenta templates come complete with shopping carts and payment gateways. If you or your clients don’t require this, then you don’t need it. Alternatively, you can bolt other e-commerce solution (VirtuMart, etc.) into any of the standard templates.

    </blockquote>

By becoming a member you can download the templates, extensions, etc., just as you see them in the demonstration sites.

As a ‘developer’ member, this means you are allowed to remove the ‘JoomlArt copyright’ from the templates.

<em>@andreasylviasmith 170300 wrote:</em><blockquote>4. last but not least, i am not good at html/php and whatever not. </blockquote>

When I joined JoomlArt two years ago I came from a print background, no experience of html, php or Jooma. I have now constructed around seven sites for clients and they are all happy with them!

There was a bit of ‘code’ alterations that needed to be done, but I was given advice on how to do that here on the forums.

    Hope this helps.

    thanks for the reply chris.

just one more question. I might need some e-comm on my site down the road. So in such cases, it would be better for me to get joomlart templates first? than install virtumart? rathar than jump straight into magento?

coz when i visited their site, i realise the price is way higher lol 11k++ :p

Indeed … Magento can be quite expensive! (probably explains why I’ve never used it) πŸ™‚

If you want to add a very simple e-commerce solution to your Joomla site, I can also recommend SimpleCaddy:

    http://extensions.joomla.org/extensions/e-commerce/shopping-cart/4148

Very easy to install and configure. Nice from end ‘Shopping Cart’ … and … it’s free! πŸ™‚

It also has a built in PayPal payment gateway.

I’ve used it on three sites so far and it’s coped very well.

I also needed to customise it for a recent client and got some good advice and assistance from the developers.

Hope this helps. Any other questions, just fire away!

    Best Wishes
    Chris

    ic thanks

another question and hopefully the last before i purchase. what is license domain? :-[
does it mean i have to purchase the domain name from here or?

    questbg Friend
    #336982

The ‘licence domain’ allows you to use JoomlArt templates on your sites.

Basically, once you have downloaded it on a site, you need to then go to your JoomlArt control panel and enter the web address. You are then given a ‘licence’ file which you upload to the root directory giving you ‘permission’ to use the template as you are a ‘paid-up’ member!

This is really to try stop people using JoomlArt templates that haven’t paid for the rights to use them.

You can register your domain names anywhere, but for every site that you use a JoomlArt template on, you’ll need to grab licence file as explained above.

    Good Luck!

    Thanks Chris for the info.

    Is the Paypal integration newbie-friendly?

    Just plug in and play?

Yes indeed. Very simple to set up.

You really only need the e-mail address you use for PayPal and activate the ‘pay pal checkout’ with one click in Admin.

Of course you’ll need to set up which currency you wish to accept, but again, this is really easy to do.

How hard is it to maintain a e-commerce based site with this vs a vendor like say 3dcart or many other ecommerce sites out there?
