I need help getting the newsflash to display in any of the module positions 1, 2 or 5. I am building this site for my wife and her students. I want to display a Quote of the day in this area and newsflash gives me that random feature to allow this. . Any custom mod or lastest news works there, but not newsflash. What do I need to do folks?

Hi emrfixit !
You change latest news module by newsflash module by way below :
Please go to admin >> select newsflash module and assign it to position of latest news mod, then you unpublish latest news module.

Yeah man… I know that, but it wont show. I will do that, have two quotes, and you will see what it does. It will be ok to leave it that way for a bit. I was only hoping it was that simple…

Here is a picture of the changes I made:

Now, Quotes has two articles in it. But I want a single random quote to show… So I set it to 1 article.

You open index.php file in templates/ja_olyra folder , find following code line at about line 128 :


if ($spotlight_left && $this->countModules('user6')) {


change to :


if ($spotlight_left || $this->countModules('user6')) {

I have copy user3 module and assign it to user1 and it displays well, but with newsflash module it doesn”t display. I think yoy try to reinstall it .

Thanks anyway Hainn84. I have tried that already too. The other modules work there and newsflash works other places just not in 1,2 or 5.. weird…

I found the issue. I didn’t have a description in the category or section for the quotes. All I did was put a description in Quotes category and Quotes section and the quotes appeared as normal… A bit of need to know information.
