I am aware that this will require changing the JA News 1.3.1 module a little bit.
My goal is to be able to color coordinate every section or category, but to only display, for example, four categories (category id 1,2, 3, 4) on the front page instead of all the categories.
Does anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks for your input.

I have no problem with setting colors to categories. This module does make that simple and easy!
I only want to display 4 categories on the front page, though, while still allowing the other categories to have their own color scheme.
so I would like to do , for example:
88:cyan
89:deepblue
90:green
91:lime
92:orange
93:pink
94:red
… and so on.But have only 88-91 appear on the front page and the rest be accessible through menus.
I have done a quick scan of the php files looking for a place where I can set the limit of categories to display on the front page. Instead of getting all category IDs, I just want the first 4 in the above list. Or better, hard code it to get specific category IDs.

If you want only display 4 sections on frontpage , you can do it following way below :
– You go to admin >> exntensions >> module manager –> select JA news module
– On right panel , you enter 4 section id on Category (Section) ID text area with format like below :
72:red
73:orange
74:deepblue
85:blue1 user says Thank You to Sherlock for this useful post

December 12, 2008 at 6:41 am #282527Hi andreasnoll !
Yes , it is posible, please enter with format below :
72:red
72 is section/category ID
red is color for that section/categorythere are 8 color option : default (grey) , cyan, deepblue, green, lime, orange, pink and red.
December 12, 2008 at 8:14 am #282539ALL these categories appear on my frontpage. That’s the problem. I don’t want them to appear on my page. Probably I have to edit the CSS-Files oder somethhing else? I don’t think it is possible to set colours for sections which don’t appear on the frontpage in the JA News Module…

December 15, 2008 at 8:21 am #282935Hi andreasnoll !
I have got your issue , but if you can’t enter id of reisen” and “wissen section to JA news module , you can’t have scheme for it. with sections and categorys what doesn’t define color in JA news will always be gotten default color(grey).I am sorry for not being of much help in this case.
