    Scribd is a social publishing and reading site which makes it simple to share written content on the web and mobile devices.

    It has a wonderful EMBED function for documents that you can cut and paste into any Joomlart template. The only problem is that your site’s SEARCH function will not recognize the contents of your embedded document unless you take an additional step.

    1. COPY AND PASTE THE DOCUMENTS SCRIBD EMBED CODE into the HTML viewer of your Joomla WYSIWYG editor.

    For instance…

    <a title="View Bylaw 2.1 on Scribd" href="http://www.scribd.com/doc/29851584/Bylaw-2-1" style="margin: 12px auto 6px auto; font-family: Helvetica,Arial,Sans-serif; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; font-weight: normal; font-size: 14px; line-height: normal; font-size-adjust: none; font-stretch: normal; -x-system-font: none; display: block; text-decoration: underline;">Bylaw 2.1</a> <object id="doc_796552855134761" name="doc_796552855134761" height="600" width="100%" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" data="http://d1.scribdassets.com/ScribdViewer.swf" style="outline:none;" > <param name="movie" value="http://d1.scribdassets.com/ScribdViewer.swf"> <param name="wmode" value="opaque"> <param name="bgcolor" value="#ffffff"> <param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"> <param name="allowScriptAccess" value="always"> <param name="FlashVars" value="document_id=29851584&access_key=key-1sj8ourjgxlafkx4neky&page=1&viewMode=list"> <embed id="doc_796552855134761" name="doc_796552855134761" src="http://d1.scribdassets.com/ScribdViewer.swf?document_id=29851584&access_key=key-1sj8ourjgxlafkx4neky&page=1&viewMode=list" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" height="600" width="100%" wmode="opaque" bgcolor="#ffffff"></embed> </object>

    2. IMMEDIATELY FOLLOWING THE CODE ABOVE ADD THE FOLLOWING:

    <div style="display: none;"><br />
    (copy and paste the text of your document here.
    No need to worry about formatting the text.
    Just cut, paste and forget.)

    </div>

    When you save the article…the page will show the embedded document…and your search box will be able identify the document in a search query!

    SMACK!
    Have fun!
    John.

    Seriously…this works MUCH better than PDF. And menus fall OVER the Scribd document…rather than behind the PDF.
