June 28, 2009 at 11:20 pm #142326Hi guys,
I use Avian2 and I cannot figure out how to work with the Main Navigation at the top. I need to be able to turn the main menu on and off for separate articles etc. I do not see it as a Module and I do not see a positiion A.
Anyone know how I could customize it outside of the template manager?
THANKS

June 29, 2009 at 1:45 am #309372Hi…
there usually is mod_mainmenu in extensions > module manager installed by default. you simply need to select the links/pages where you want the menu displayed.if you do not find mod_mainmenu installed then create a new one > select new(top right menu in module manager)>MENU>next>to the right it says menu name dropdown…select mainmenu >to the left bottom it says menu assignment>select links where you want the menu displayed…and it should be done

June 29, 2009 at 2:09 am #309376I’m not a newbie so I know how to do that (no offense I’m in a crappy mood and a tight deadline). All of the mainmenu mods I have looked at and none of them correspond to my Main Nav horizontal menu. This is a Joomlart template. I have set up thesite to default to an article that loads with the opening of the page- it basically acts as a cover for my magazine, and the Frontpage layout has the main content of the site, etc AND the Menu. So I am looking to remove the menu from the default article.
Do you think it is because it is set up as the default?
I have tried to disable the main menu for the article but it is not functioning. hmm.
The only option I looked up was to create a redirect in the htaccess and/or install Joomla into a sub-directory. I want to avoid that because I will have different “issues” of the site, and it I would not be able to create a separate cover for each issue. –I am using iJoomla magazine which is great for organizing and creating these issues.
