I’m using some 3rd party components that use .tmpl files to display its contents. I want to edit these so as to not lose my edits when upgrading the component.
Before T3, we were able to manually override component or modules files simply by placing the appropriate files and paths in the template/html folder …
When I try this now, my override files are ignored … how can I get this to work?
Thanks in advance!
Matt

December 14, 2010 at 9:25 pm #366778Well, it is really hard to suggest anything without seeing it. In JA Droid we already have a lot of template overrides but some are located in different places than you are used to. We have some in the usual html folder as before but others in the plugins>system>jaat3>base-themes>default>html folder so I suggest you look there to see what overrides are already being used and apply your changes in that folder if the part of the template you are overriding is not in the normal html folder.
As I understand it though, anything placed in the templates html folder should take precedence over the ones in the jat3 folder but I may be wrong.

Thanks for the tip … unfortunately, I have my ‘edited’ file in both locations: the template folder AND the jat3 … guess I’m just going to have to keep extra local copies in the event my files get written over by an upgrade …
Maybe someone else has an idea …

December 17, 2010 at 10:08 am #367301Please let me know which is the component you are talking about.
If you are using a component which is non-joomla core then you need to check, whether this component supports over-riding template or not.
Please provide more details..
