Let me try to explain what I do, see screenshot

I would not want the default to see anything, because my main menu is in the left, then when a user clicks on a specific link then I would bring up a menu (called topmenu) in the position that you see in the screenshot above.
Is it possible?

Hi!

please check my tutorial about making the mega menu vertical: http://www.joomlart.com/forums/showthread.php?67435-Tutorial-Make-your-Mega-Menu-vertical!

If you still want to get rid of the mega menu from the top and use your module for navigation, just copy your current layout and remove this block

<block name="mainnav" type="mainnav" ></block>

Now you can assign that new layout to the pages where the mega menu shouldn’t show.
