iGuru | Courses Not Directed Properly

Before I do, I like to show you this screnshare.
This was taken after updating so you can see after updating there was an issue with some of the url's

You can see that before I make any changes I am already having issues with url's.
Any chance you know why?
This was taken after switching the two files shown..
Seems as though after switching out those two files; view and tabs.php we are good.

The main thing seems to be after we updated.
We are receiving urls' like this still:

https://website.com/self-study?cid=7-self-study&task=view&view=gurupcategs

On top of that, the images are not correctly thinking to the same course category, but instead linking to the homepage?

If anything you can compare from our live site; using 5.2.5.
And compare that to the test site using 6.0.2

By the way, test site is up and added to ticket..

In guru 6.x, we added a new router api. Using old layout will make conflict and generate wrong urls.
I recommend to stick with version 5.x if you site still works fine.

Does that mean we should download a fresh copy of Joomla 4, then install Joomla 4 Sensei, then import in iGuru data?

I recommend stick with version 5.x if you site still works fine.

Is 5.2.5 compatiable with Joomla 4?

When we ran the check it showed some components of Guru not compatible.
What are your thoughts?

This is a new reliable way to generate internal links on guru. It's also needed because old router system stops working on joomla 4.

Guru 5.2.5 is not compatible with joomla 4. Actually, you can upgrade to guru 6.x without any issue, because we released a new version of ja sensei that's fully working with latest guru. But in your case, there are some complicated customizations were added to the layout. You need to recheck and add them manually to new layouts, not only use old path.

I wish it was that easy, but we updated Sensei and updated iGuru.
We didn't even add back the customizations and the URL's started looking funky.

Are you saying that it might have been one of the core files that we might have previously changed?
Then when we updated iGuru it didn't change to the newer version?

Any chance you can help with this migration?
At this moment, the videos we shared is all that has been completed on the stage site.
So you are free to look into it and let us know what you think.

There is no customization saguaros
There is a url issue after update to 6.0.2.
Just like to know; which file @manhta is talking about.
As we only changed one two files and, even before changing there was the issue.
Explained on the previous video screenshare.

Thinking it might be an old file that didn't get overwritten, possibly because there was no such file.
Then retained the same file in the folder group.

Or, if could be something with the sh404 guru plugin..
But whatever it is, its not playing nice and some help would be great apprecaited.

I've rechecked your issue. This might because of sh404sef component. You can config like this.

Sh404 dashboard > Configuration > tab General > tab By Component

There were still some hiccups, that maybe you can suggest on how to handle.

For instance, in our live site our 7-day free course is:

However, in the updated 6.0.2 demo site it is:

Notice "self-study" in there...

Do you think its because we have menu items listed?
And now things are different with the updated version so no need for them any longer?

You are right. This is a new behavior of guru 6.x. It prevent duplicated content. You should turn off those menus and try again.

Sorry @manhta, but it still is not functioning properly.. I have the settings exactly as you have them and then unpublished guru menu items, as you also mentioned..

Yet, when I preview the demo site we are still receiving url's like:
https://website.com/pages-success-stories/coaches/courses/7-self-study
instead of
https://website.com/courses/7-self-study

and:
https://website.com/guru?view=gurupcategs & https://website.com/guru
instead of:
https://website.com/courses

Even the images on the course page don't direct properly..
This is after of course trying to locate the revised url for courses category page.

Is iGuru using Joomla API for building links?

At this moment on our test site I have disabled sh404; as I thought that might help.
However, this drew no results and still having same issues if not worse..

Your help is greatly needed and appreciated.

Well, up until now and will wait for your advice on how to fix...

However, i re-enabled sh404.
The thing is still the same from the previous reply.
images are not functioning correctly.
Also, now the urls are adding "self-study" or "1-on-1" depending on which category they belong too.

For instance;
our 7-day free course which is under our self-study category is now:
https://website.com/self-study/courses/7-self-study/1-7-day-free-course

When it should be
https://website.com/courses/7-self-study/1-7-day-free-course

another one from a different category;
https://website.com/1-on-1/courses/4-1-on-1/34-1-on-1-speaking
when it should be:
https://website.com/courses/4-1-on-1/34-1-on-1-speaking
Seems like the category is being added in front for some reason..

However, another one which is the courses category page
https://website.com/guru?view=gurupcategs
https://website.com/guru?view=gurupcategs

when it should be:
https://website.com/courses

All of this is still on the demo site that you have access.

Here are my settings:

About url /courses/7-self-study/1-7-day-free-course, i can't help you. It's not guru behavior.
The correct one should be /learn/courses/4-1-on-1. In this case, learn is a menu alias, and courses is category alias on Custom Guru Urls setting.

Seems like we are now finally away from the whole CID URL stucture issues we were once having with the update.
And feel, we are getting somewhere.
As it seems the iGuru update requires a bit more tweaking than previous versions.

Couple of last things:
Firstly, the url's are beginning to look better, but not the same as they are in iGuru 5.2.5 and on our live website.

For instance, now the url's are
https://demo-website.com/courses/program/7-self-study/1-7-day-free-course
instead of what it is for our current website which is:
https://live-website.com/courses/7-self-study/1-7-day-free-course

If there is no way in making this possible. Then maybe we can change it to this;
https://website.com/courses/program/self-study/7-day-free-course
Which removes the ID#'s from the category and course?
or better yet:
https://website.com/courses/self-study/7-day-free-course
Which removes the ID#'s and removes the word "program"

The main thing is there is a way to have the url's be the same as they are in 5.2.5?

I had thought with this new update and Joomla 4 we would be able to achieve url's that appeared more cleaner.

Is this not possible?

Hi,
Kindly try this patch. Override it to components/com_guru/router.php. Remember purge sh404 urls cache before testing.

Great.. So now it appears iGuru 6.0.2 is behaving the same as our current 5.2.5 on live site.

Is it safe to upgrade iGuru on live website?
Assuming all that needs to be replaced is the router file you sent previously.
Along with retaining current sh404 settings on demo site?

I'm not sure. I think you must test it carefully before putting it live.
