I have tried to update the Joomla 4 site to JomSocial 5 - it failed hanging while installing themes. I have uupdated the site the Joomla 5 and tried again to install JomSocial 5 and it has hung in the same place when running the JomSocial installer. The Welcome step is fine, the unpacking files is fine, the first 6 steps of 'Preparing Database' are fine until it gets to 'Updating Theme' - and then it is just 'Waiting'. I am able to revert to the most recent previous version of JomSocial I have ( 4.8.3) and that does seem to work with Joomla 5 (albeit with all the bugs it previously had).
I note that you accessed the site yesterday using the credentials I gave you but have not said what you did to give the reassurance that 'it will work fine' . Are you able to advise what you managed to find that supports that reassurance? I will leave the test site in the 'hung' state so that you are able to see the current situation and hopefully explain what has caused it to be in that state and what steps you are taking to make it 'fine'
Having just paid $299 for the updated of JomSocial and the 12 months support that it comes with I'm a tad annoyed that I seem unable to use the software or get any help in resolving the problem.
I have now given up all hope of being able to get to Joomla 6 but have managed to get to the point where I do at least have Joomla 5 working with almost all of the components updated to most recent versions - but with a very old version of JomSocial which it is very difficult to update.
I hope to apply the updates I am happy with to the live site next week and will need to exclude JomSocial updates from that move unless I can make some progress soon.
