Single Article width on purity IV template

when publishing a single article in joomla with purityIV as a template, the template pushes the article to the right. It looks like there is a place for a side menu, but none of my defined elements in the layout settings have that. I do not understand where that spacing comes from. (the part that is red in the image) I want to have the article on all the available space (same as the site modules width)

I also want to change the width of the content and get rid of the margin (yellow in the image). Where can I do that?

It's hard to say without access to the website.
The right column is for the author and a preview of the next article, but not quite as you show it.

The original template has a different display.

You can backup this file
/templates/ja_purity_iv/html/com_content/article/default.php

and replace it with this one:

defaultphp.zip
