Template jquery has conflict with a plugin's jquery

Hi,

The menu is go wrong if I activate the Paylike payment method in VirtueMart component. The menus are not dropping-down anymore and it looks a bit buggy. Here is a picture of it:

The menu problem comes only after adding something to the cart, than pressing the show cart button and going to the cart page. After these steps all of the pages are with the wrong menu, until I restart the browser. Disabling the Paylike payment method in Virtuemart component or VM - Payment, Paylike plugin solves the problem.

So I wrote to the support team of Paylike plugin. After a long conversation they said that the template is loading a too old version of jquery and I should ask my theme developer to fix this issue. So I'm here now.

Here are the messages of Paylike plugin support team:

"By the look of this it seems that there’s a problem with jquery. The plugins loads a newer version of jquery and the live method doesn’t work. If you can find the source of that live call, it would probably be better to adapt that. If you look here : https://api.jquery.com/live/ you will see this has been deprecated. "

Than I asked, what that means, and they wrote this:

"I will try to explain. The theme you are using is relying on code that is older than the version of jquery bundled with the plugin. So in order to “fix” this plugin you need to change the theme to stop using outdated jquery calls. Modifying the plugin would break other themes, and its not something we can do, going back with the library. I am afraid modifying the theme is not something we can help with. Can you ask the theme developers?"

I'm using the GCK Store template by Shape5. I noticed at the downloads, that this template has a newer version than the one I use. The new version of the template has a newer version of jquery? If yes, how to update the template? If no, can you update the jquery of the template?

forensys Hi. In the matter of fact our template is using a jQuery version which came with joomla, looks like on shop pages different jQuery version has been loaded next to the joomla version. I would recommend to use Easy jQuery plugin to unify jQuery version and stick to joomla build in jQuery.

I've already tried jQuery easy, but I cant add anything to the cart or cart page even cant load if its on. I tried a lot of settings. I think thats not a problem which can be solved with this plugin.

forensys Hi. Indeed unifying libraries makes no changes since the scripts are in a pretty old format. Please attach an access an access to FTP so I'll try to locate what is using it and will try change the syntax to newer standards.

Can you make these changes on our test site first? Because we don't want any trouble on the live site.
You can reach our test site, I added the FTP access. And if it's working, I add the live site FTP access.

forensys Hi. Sure, dev environment is even better, but I've noticed that many of the extensions is out of date, which would be a perfect explanation to the problem You have. Is this the exact same copy as production? Have You done any modifications which are preventing You from making an update? Can You please update everything to see if it will not solve this problem?

Hi. I tried to update everything but it didn't work. Now I restored the site from a backup to the state before the updates.

forensys Hi. I've checked almost everything, but indeed it's caused by the payment option plugin loading libraries which do not match rest of the site. There is also a message:

Paylike: no https protocol - only test accounts are usable

in the console, so maybe if just the test accounts can be used not so I suspect that also a test scripts are being used? Can You please eliminate this issue by applying the https. Is that used on production?

Hello,

Well, in Virtuemart at the Paylike paying method there is an option to use the plugin with test or live account. I think this console message is telling that the site is using the test account and it is true. Of course we have set up the test account for testing purposes on our test site (dev.salibafiligree.com).

The live site of this test site (salibafiligree.com) uses https, and we tested it even with live account, but the menu is going wrong even with these settings (therefore on this site the plugin is off now). We need a fix for this. Paylike plugin support said we have to turn to our template support to solve this, so please figure out something. Paylike payments should be up and running for our customer by early November at the latest.

As I can see their plugin is even loading old version 1.10.1of jquery. In this file:

/plugins/vmpayment/paylike/paylike.php

I replaced:

$document->addScript( 'https://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.10.1/jquery.min.js' );

by:

JHtml::_('jquery.framework');

A good extension should not have such bad code and loading Bootstrap for a plugin??? instead of blaming template, they should check their code first.

I updated above code and it should work fine now on your site, kindly check.

Thank you for your work. Drop down menu is working now, but the dots next to menu items are still moved up. (See on the attached picture what I say)

If it helps, here are the last sentences of the Paylike plugin support.
When I asked paylike support that which version their plugin load of jquery their answer was this:

"jQuery constantly pushes updates. The plugin is using 1.10 at this time, but the theme could load anything that is more than 1.9. They should just aim to fix the fact that the function was removed: https://api.jquery.com/live/"

I see the issue when adding product to cart. And as I said above, that plugin loads Bootstrap and it caused the conflict in style.

You can override it by this custom css code:

#s5_nav li { box-sizing: content-box; }

I put the css code in the test site, and now it seem to be working perfectly. So can you make all the changes on our live site too?
I updated the fields, you can reach the live site folder with the same FTP info.

No. On the live site the paylike payment method is not activated because of the problem. But if I activate it, the same problem exists like on the test site before your fix. So please make the fix for the site provided in the topic too. Thank you!
