Changing the default state of the side menu to hidden on tablets

Hello,

We would like the side bar navigation to be hidden by default when a course is accessed from a tablet being used "in vertical". It works that way already when accessing using phones, but on tablets the side menu is shown, taking space on the screen.

Tablets in horizontal would be fine to keep showing the menu, as there is more space available in that case.

Is there a way to do this?

Hi Roger,

Can you please tell me more about the sidebar zone? On course page, for example - https://dev1hdre54.proaudiomasterclasses.com/classes/ear-training-1-lite - I can not see the sidebar area, none in tablet or desktop.

Sorry its will be show by default for all the devices as same code is being used. If you want to hide it, it will be hidden for other devices as well by default.
Do u want to hide it?

At the moment, it is shown by default on desktops and tablets, but hidden on phones.

I’m guessing there’s a breakpoint somewhere in the code. So I just would like to change that breakpoint so it is shown by default only in desktops.

Do you know where that piece of code is?

Please log to FTP and in this file - \components\com_guru\js\guru_modal.js you can find on this line - 89 this code:

....
if (window.matchMedia("(max-width: 700px)").matches) {
...

you can change 700px with what you want, you can put 1024px

Awesome, thank you very much! Would you consider doing that change also to the official version of Guru?

I believe it would further improve the usability on tablets, as any time I use a tablet to access the courses I find myself reaching out to close the sidebar.
