March 27, 2014 at 5:20 pm #196223I’m developing a new site that will use the StackIdeas extensions and they recommend the Purity III template, so I joined the club and downloaded the purity_iii.zip file to my server that is in the lab. Actually I downloaded it twice, once with the full set of 4 files and the second time with just the template.
Here is the details:
OS: Ubuntu 12.04 LTS with LAMP components
CMS: Joomla 3.2
Web Server directory: /var/www/html/
Installation File: /home/saverhealth/Joomla/Templates/purity_iii.zipphp.ini prameters:
memory_limit = 128M
upload_max_filesize = 32MI have downloaded the purity_iii.zip file to the server. When I go to Extension Manager -> Upload Package File and select the purity_iii.zip file for installation, the delay icon goes for 10 seconds and then just stops. No errors, however the template has not been installed on the site when I go to the Template Manager.
I cannot find any posts with installation problems, so I must be doing something wrong.
Thanks for the help.
DanMarch 27, 2014 at 7:30 pm #528383I had the same problem and here is how I solved it with the wamp server. Not sure if it’s the same method but its worth a try:
If you plan use Quickstart Demo files do this:
1. On your wamp server, go to phpmyadmin
2. Select DATABASES tab
3. Create a new database for the demo content, be sure to write down the name of the database
4. Close phpmyadmin
5. Go to C:/wamp/www and create a new folder for the new demo site (name it something like purity_demo)
6. Click to open the folder
7. In another window, open the the purity_iii.zip folder then open the quickstart folder and and extract the contents of purity_iii.zip to the new folder in wamp/www
8. In the browser go to localhost and click on the folder you created (purity_demo)
9. This will open the Joomla installation programRUN THE INSTALLATION PROCESS
1. In the configuration tab, select the language and Enter the following:
2. Site name: (be sure to write these down)
Admin email:
Admin username:
Admin password:
Site offline button set to: NO
3. Click NEXT
Database type: MySQLi
Hostname: localhost
Enter Username for database:
Enter Password for database:
Enter the Database name:
Table prefix: automatically generated
Old Database process: REMOVE
4. Click NEXT
5. Install Sample Data: select Default English
6. Click INSTALL
7. Click the button to remove the joomla installation directory
8. Open the site to make sure everything installed correctly.
9. Open the administrator panel: localhost/purity_demo/administrator
10. Enter the login and password you created for Joomlaxpertassist Friendxpertassist

March 28, 2014 at 2:12 am #528395Thanks JAMGBL for your response. It made me look farther at what I was doing.
Found what the problem was.
The downloaded purity_iii.zip file was a container for 4 different zip files. Need to first unzip the original container and then use the internal zip files to do the installation. I was just trying to use the zip container.
Running to much on auto pilot and didn’t look inside the package.
Have it installed and now need to figure out how it works.:)
