Hello Joomlart folks…

A much discussed, but never solved problem that I have been having recent issues with is having the HOME button go to the index.php file instead of the index.html file. Yes, I am using a splash page, at my client’s specific request. How do I get it so that when i click the Home button in my Main Menu (currently set up as a Front Page Blog), that it will go to index.php and not just the top level http://www.mydomain.com?

I solved this by disabling the main menu, and creating a new one with the Home button being an “External Link” that points to index.php

It is still linking to the joomla homepage. If you just do a external link to the main directory. it will automatically go to the .html over the .php.

you didn’t read my post correctly. i had set up a splash page (index.html), and when i pressed the home button on the JA Rasite template menu, it went to the index.html file INSTEAD of the index.php file. but i fixed that now and it’s all good. hopefully someone who has the same problem can use my tip!

Using joomla 1.7.0 and ja_purity_ii v1.2.0:

I have the same problem but if I unpublish module Main Menu (which is by default published to position ‘left’) and try to redefine my ‘Home’ button to an external link, i get the error:

Save failed with the following error: The home menu item must be a component.

It seems that regardless of what the Home button’s link is defined as, the template always redirects to ‘mysitename’, which as per your situation, has a flash page displayed by the index.html page which sits in my root directory.
