Hi,
Is there a way that an HD image inserted in an article is automatically formatted to a smaller format to avoid manual transformations of images that take some time.

Hi,

By default, there is no available option to achieve that, you can try to seek for a suitable extension in Joomla Extensions Directory supporting this feature.
