To anyone (like me) waiting for feedback on DT Register 4.0 before updating your site:
- It does not seem to break anything when installing over 3.3.2. It initially appears as more of a facelift.
- It does not fix some of the annoyances from prior versions. For example:
- If you try to create an event and save without entering the required fields, it still does not save and does not give you any clue why.
- The front-end Control Panel still has no "back" button when you select one of the control panel options.
Bugs discovered:
1. The new DT List Theme (1.0.0 beta) does not display the the short description set in the Messages tab. The Default theme does display this text.
2. The new DT List Theme (1.0.0 beta) blurs the images associated with the events - even if they're sharp and large. The default theme shows them very small, but sharp.
I don't know if there's a newer version of the theme, but I could not find one. I was hopeful that, in the same way new tabs for entering an agenda, speakers, and sponsors, there might be a way to enter the full description of the event in the event settings and not have to continue to create and link a supporting article. The themes are a GREAT IDEA and have great potential to reduce the need to create a separate document for every event - especially with the enhanced sponsor, agenda, and speaker tabs. Themes with configurable settings would really help.
DT AcyMailing Subcriber 3.6:
1. Just as with DT Register 3.3.2 and DT AcyMailing Subscriber 3.5, the map pop-up does not display the events or lists so that I can subscribe a registrant to a specific list based on the event they registered for.
2. This was reported in another ticket in which support indicated that it works in DT Register 4.0.
The registration process is about the same, but the form didn't populate my Community Builder address/phone/email, which previous versions did. It did not require me to confirm my email address when logged in, but I still had to enter it.
Logged out, registration requires confirm email address.
New issues:
1. Clicking on Terms & Conditions link used to pop-up in 3.x versions, now it goes to a text-only page (no template) and displays the text. You have to use the back button on your browser to get back to the registration page.
2. The security code changes when you do this, but if you click "Complete Registration", it goes through.
3. A bug that was introduced in 3.3.x - the custom fields were not displaying on the confirmation page or in the emails - seems to have been fixed.
These are my initial findings. As I get more events to create for the test client, I'll be able to do more extensive testing - I'm going to hold off on installing this on other client sites until I've thoroughly tested the new version.
Thank you,
Ernie
