Error when updating to Guru 6.3.0

Hello,

We are trying to update to Guru 6.3.0. Everything seem to work well, with the installer going through all the updates.

However, at the end of the process we are getting this error:

Call to undefined method Joomla\Filesystem\Folder:exists

We have tried a couple of time, and the error persists. What could cause this?

Your site is running with Joomla 3 (which is no longer supported by Joomla) but use MySQL 8 a new version. If possible, I recommend to upgrade your site to Joomla 5/6 first.

In order to update to J4, we need to update Guru first.

What is the latest version of Guru that supports J3?

Hi Roger,

If your server supports MariaDB, I’d recommend trying MariaDB instead of MySQL.

You can also download older versions of Guru here:
https://www.joomlart.com/member/downloads/ijoomla/guru/guru-pro-com

You can try with 6.2.x version:

Is then Guru 6.2.4 the last version of Guru that supports Joomla 3?

Recent versions of Joomla 5 and Joomla 6 introduced significant layout and framework changes. Because of this, the latest versions of Guru include compatibility updates that may not work properly on older Joomla versions such as Joomla 3.

Since you’re already planning a Joomla migration, I’d recommend installing an older Guru version first and testing how it works on your current setup. After migrating to Joomla 4/5/6, you can then upgrade to the latest Guru release.
